04-27-2024 Second egg has hatched

4/28/2024

Shortly after 7PM, Rebecca left the nest box, and we could see an egg starting to hatch.  Kewpee came to stand guard while Rebecca found some food and returned.  The second chick hatched out of the egg while Rebecca fed the older chick.  After that chick ate and got drowsy, Rebecca started to feed the newly hatched chick.  It was still wet and partially in the shell but had a voice and an appetite!  This egg was lighter in color, and we know that it was the last one that was laid.  It will be interesting to see if the remaining two eggs hatch. Check the video archive for three viceo clips of the hatching.
