04-02-2026 Finally the first egg!
Hi Falcon Fans. Were you thinking that there might not be any eggs or falcon chicks this year? We were all starting to wonder what would happen. Rebecca and Kewpee are 17 and 16 years old, respectfully, so have lived longer than their peers and many of their offspring.
But, early this morning, Rebecca laid the first egg of the season, which is later than any other year. In previous years, she has typically laid an egg every other day and has always produced four eggs. However, only two eggs have hatched in each of the last two years, possibly because her fertility has declined with age. We don’t really have a guidebook for geriatric Peregrines, so we will all just have to watch and see what unfolds. You can see Rebecca and Kewpee discuss the first egg in today’s video.
