05-28-2025 Peregrine chicks are banded!
The two Kalamazoo falcon chicks were banded May 28th. Because the Michigan DNR is no longer banding Peregrines, the good folks from Kalamazoo Nature Center stepped up and had their first falcon rodeo. It went very well and Rebecca was relatively cordial until she ran out of patience at the end and delt a few blows to the banders! Fortunately they were warned to wear hard-hats, an essential piece of equipment for this work. Based on the size of the chicks, we have one female and one male. (Females are bigger than males).
