6-11-2025 Dash makes a dash

A few updates today.  The young falcons have names – Dash (male) and Dot (female).  You can tell them apart from the size (Dot is larger) and amount of down (Dot has more).  But, as of today, you will only see Dot. Dash unexpectedly made a dash for the sky. Thankfully alert volunteers Jan and Kathy were on hand along with photographer John to see and document his flight, which was strong but short. Kathy found him on the sidewalk in front of the Fifth/Third building.  He was not injured and we scooped him up quickly, much to his verbal protests.  Because he is so small and a bit thin, we opted to take him to rehab for a few days so that he can practice flying in a safe environment and get some meals without competition from his sister, who has a very robust appetite!  We expect to bring him back home in a short time.

We are keeping a close eye on Dot and hope she takes a few more days before she tries to fly.
