Peregrine Update Oct 2026

Racer and Christina are seen frequently at Peregrine Central, perched on various ledges of the Fifth/Third building. They are not using the nest box at this time of the year and some brazen pigeons began spending time inside it and on the ledge. The box is meant for Peregrine falcons, so we weren’t keen on letting another species move in—especially such a messy one! A couple weeks ago, we gave the window well and nest box a much-needed fall cleaning and temporarily blocked the box entrance to discourage the pigeons from hanging out there. We reopened the box after a couple of weeks, hopefully giving the pigeons enough time to find a more appropriate spot to spend time.  The falcons are not likely to use the nest box until it is time to think about family planning early next year.  And, we certainly hope that nesting will be on their minds in the spring.
